My introduction to the Yakutian Laika breed came through a connection I had with Brandon Dodd and Michelle Hutchings, the breeders from RushinRound Kennels (formerly MydnytBlue) whom I met 10 years ago.

 

I have had a long relationship with them photographing their dogs and when three Yakutian Laika were imported into Australia in 2022, I arranged a meeting between Zac, Cindy, Brandon and Michelle. From that meeting sparked a love for the breed that saw them with their first Yakutian Laika, Hazel, roughly 12 months later.

While I do not currently own a Yakutian Laika, I own a neutered Labrador who I partake in conformation and sports with, and a senior Siberian Husky who is a treasured family pet.

I am passionate about the future of this breed and have a particular interest in improving structure, and involving the breed in dog sports. I am invested in seeing this breed grow within Australia, and improve.
